Today was quite funny as there were several people that I met who at first thought I was a student before it came out that I was actually a new faculty member. It made me laugh and is to be expected to say the least. Most people expect a faculty member to be old and gray. I guess it may just take a while before everyone gets used to it. Oh well, I guess it's better to be thought of as younger than I am than being confused as someone older. It does make me smile that's for sure.

Tonight I took Max for a walk around my new neighborhood. I was hoping that I wouldn't get lost and thankfully I ended up just doing a large circle. It was nice to get a better idea of whats around here which is only houses with a little park. As we were walking around there where tons of people out grilling and having a good time. Also a ton of families mingling together and relaxing. It feels like surburbia minus the crazy neighbor who everyone thinks has bodies down in the basement. This would be the ideal area for a family with kids. I'm sure I will come to get to know my neighbors as many have been out lately. It'll be an adjustment to say the least but it'll be good to no longer be surrounded by college students. Amazing how life changes eventhough it doesn't feel like it at times.

I can't wait to be totally settled in. Max seems to like it also. I also can't wait to start buying some nicer furniture as I will finally be able to afford it. Man, I'm finally going to start making some real cash. Woohoo! I can't wait, oh wait I'm already getting paid for today. Hehe. My official start day was today. Ok, it's late and I'm hungry, time for food.

It's a little odd and my furniture is already on it's way, but I am really excited and so ready to get out of here. There are so many just negative thoughts associated right now with school that I need a change and to get away from it. I must admit I'm a little nervous to have my first job in my chosen career but I'm also really really excited.

Of different note, I was told this weekend that I pronate quite a bit. I found that kind of interesting as I have never been told that before. But it may explain some other things. Anyways, I was told to buy some better inserts for my shoes to help so my feet don't hurt down the road or over long periods of time. I may just have to do that.

Tonight I was watching a movie and a line kind of struck me. It was that when you get hurt so badly that something just shuts off. It just made me think. Is there some truth that you can get hurt so badly that you are unable to love again with a hardened heart. If so, how does that person ever learn to love again. Or do they not learn to ever love and let anyone in. Then again there are those people who seem to get continually hurt throughout there life yet they are capable of loving with every ounce of them still. I wonder what differentiates between those two different kinds of people. I'm not sure why that line struck me but for some odd reason it did tonight.

Earlier today when I was taking Max for a walk we had a little run in with another dog who pinned Max by his ear. Thankfully the owner was right behind him and able to pin his dog who had to weigh at least 90 lbs compared to Max's 30lbs. There were no open wounds anywhere just a little fur missing. He was fine after about a minute. I hope we do not run into Hercules, that was the name of the dog, again like that. If the owner hadn't been there I would not have been able to get him off Max. It was scary. And I thought my dog has issues at times. I guess I have nothing to complain about after that.

Of other note, I have noticed that since I've been taking Max on more regular walks I have been getting to know more of my neighbors. They want to know what kind of dog he is or they are out with their dogs. It's nice to know that people are that friendly around here.

I can't wait to move and get away from a lot of things here and have a fresh start. I'm sure I'll be back to visit every now and then but I don't plan to keep in touch with that many people. I can think of two who have already committed to coming and visiting me so I'm sure I'll be returning the favor. :)

Last night was my womens golf league. It was the first time this season that we were playing stroke play. There was a limit of triple bogey on each hole to ensure speedy play. I sadly to say may have hit that many many times. But not every single time. On the 7th hole, which has this crazy hill I managed to hit it (practically kill the ball) and it bounced off the hill and completely across the fairway into the fringe on the other side. If it had rolled two more inches it would have rolled down another hill. Then I managed to kill it once more and I crossed the fairway and the golf path this time so that I was on the other side of the hole. Then a nice little, not really that little chip with my nine iron and I was on the green. I was about 10 feet from the hole and I putted it in for a par. My second par ever. I'm so happy. I realize that only one par with the rest of my score may not have been the best but who cares. I'm happy to just see that I'm improving. Granted I do think it's funny that I wasn't on the actual hole until I made it to the green. I really should take some lessons.

Last night the bugs were out in full force. I noticed only because our cart did not have a windshield and frequently I was getting hit in the face by the bugs as I was driving around the course. Then as I was eating after the fact my left eyelid was itching. I felt up there and sure enough I had a bite on my eyelid. That is a first for me. It's gone down quite a bit today so I don't have a funny looking swollen eye, but it would give me some funny stories.

Such that should you watch one too many in a row, as I may have done this week, you may find yourself seeing Harry Connick Jr dressed in all white with a cowboy hat and thinking damn, he is hot, I need to find myself a guy who looks good in a cowboy hat. Thankfully those thoughts only last as long as the movie so that I don't actually go out in search of one. I really think they should put warning labels on those kinds of movies.

I found an online project for photography. It's run every other month and it entails a list of 26 things to photograph in that month. Sometimes the list has obscure things that really require you to be creative when finding things to shoot. This is something that I have seen and wanted to do but seem to keep forgetting about. This months is easy to remember so that I won't need to have the list on me. It's photograph one thing for each letter of the alphabet. A - Z. I think this one should be fun and I haven't been out photographing lately so I really need something to get me out. Part of the reason I haven't been out is really due to my schedule with school, but that's really no excuse. Photography relaxes me and energizes me at the same time. I realize that sounds a little like an oxymoron, but it's true. So if anyone else is interested in learning more about 26 things you can check it out and see for yourself.
